A Feast of Fruit- A Still Life Exhibition by Katarina Hackman

Currently featuring in the Corban & Blair Window Gallery beside the station in Lewisham. In this selection of fruit themed Still Life acrylic art works painted on canvas, Katarina explores the power of colour combined with form. Simple objects are imbued with an otherness beyond their physical shape with uplifting and contrasting colours. Reflecting the energy of the subjects, shadows provide volume and intensity. In this way, Katarina’s art practice utilises a colourist perspective to seek out the beauty in everyday objects and provide restful contemplation for the viewer.

Corban & Blair have been supporting the creativity of local artists for the past 2 years in the Window Gallery. For more information about having an exhibition contact us at [email protected]

Window Gallery this week: Alissa Cook

Alissa Cook

Alissa is a self-taught photographer, who works from her home near Callan Park. Alissa is drawn to patterns and shapes in nature. She generally focuses on close-up floral photography but also enjoys wildlife and landscapes from time to time. Alissa takes inspiration from the local surroundings as well as Botanic Gardens, offerings from florists, and trips to National Parks.

She has always had a love of embroidery and decided, during the first COVID lockdown, to experiment and combine her two loves. This is her first collection whereby her fine-art photographs are hand embroidered with stranded cotton. This series of images were taken at Mt Annan Australian Botanic Gardens, The Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney and The Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens at Mt Tomah, and 1 image (Native Violet) is from her garden.

If you would like to see the close-up details of the embroidery in each frame please go to Alissa’s Instagram page.

Window Gallery this week: SOMETHING DIFFERENT – Recycling artworks

SOMETHING DIFFERENT - Recycling artworks

This month Corban & Blair have a different window exhibition.

We are recycling artworks for FREE to homes that will appreciate them. They have been found in cupboards, on the street and at the back of closets.

So far, we have recycled 10 items, the window is now looking very bare.

This activity connects the importance we at Corban & Blair, place on creativity and recycling reusing or repurposing.

They can be hung directly on the wall, be used as a canvas for a new painting, be the base for a combined work of art- the artist and a new artist. The frames can be coloured or decorated.

This is about fun, creativity, sharing and a message to be aware not to waste our resources.
