What’s a Shoezie?

It is a stylish shoe bag for women to carry their good shoes (heels) to work and to store their runners in during the day. Shoezie is elegant and practical, created by Kerry Matheson SHOEZIE has a built-in satin divider to protect shoes and comes in a neat fold up pouch. The Shoezie collection comes in a range of fashionable colours designed for style and practicality. “Let’s be honest, as women we all feel a little more fabulous when we slip on a pair of high heels. But wearing them all the time isn’t always practical, or comfortable. Working a corporate office job, I noticed there was no fashionable and purpose-built solution for carrying my heels to the office. After volunteering at Charity Dress for Success, I noticed that many of the clients who were being styled in donated clothing loved the look of high heels but didn’t choose them because they were catching...

Portfolios to keep family documents

I was reminded about the importance of keeping documents like awards, educational degrees, birth certificates, acknowledgements, courses, marriages certificates, old passports, media clippings when a customer came into our studio shop to find something to file his degrees and other documents his family valued. Our A3 and A4 Portfolios made from book cloth with refillable sleeves are ideal for this purpose. Monogram a name, date or add a corporate logo for a unique presentation solution. We have always used our portfolios for presentations and media, but I have now done this for myself and it makes me feel good to have all these important historical documents together and sorted. When you get it right

What Corban & Blair do best was illustrated at the recent Expo we attended in Adelaide. We created three leather products for Zurich Insurance to reflect their merger with One Path. They reflected their corporate colours, quality, were useful, desirable and we monogrammed delegates initials to make them more personal. The aim was to draw conference delegates to the stand so staff could chat with them. The products and experience certainly did this. People were drawn to the quality, and usefulness of them. Products included a Card holder, A5 refillable Journal and luggage tag.  ...

A Micro-Gallery – F Tanner Baker – Rozelle Sydney

Featuring a clever idea by our friend Helen Wyatt. “I have lived in this old bakery for forty years on Sydney's Balmain Peninsula and have wanted to honour its history and contribute to the local community by enlivening the street. The shopfront includes generous windows that lend themselves to a micro-gallery size exhibition space. I have established a non-commercial window gallery that exhibits works that stimulate reflection and, I hope, discussion” Helen Wyatt Gallery Owner, designer & curator. This year, F Tanner Baker has exhibited works by diverse artists, many of whom make pieces that can be worn. Exhibitions are up for approximately one month and are changed regularly. It is an opportunity for an after-dinner evening stroll down Evans Street. @ftannerbaker   ...

A new gig

Our team had a new challenge recently at the Steadfast Conference on the Gold Coast we were a feature on the Zurich insurance stand. Our role was to design products that reflected their brand, that we then applied attendee’s initials to the covers with our monogramming machine. We designed leather A5 refillable Journals and card holders with the Zurich logo as a printed lining. It was very popular, drew lots of attention and we were very busy for 3 days. It was just as well they had a barista on the stand as well! It was a fun couple of days - The Zurich team were lovely, easy to work with and we met hundreds of insurance brokers from around the country. A big thank you to our industrial designer Ken who monogrammed all of the products....

A proactive 2019

This is our year to be very proactive and meet customers face to face around the country. Perth was the second step of our national schedule, where we attended the EAN - Executive Assistant Network conference and we also visited current and potential clients in Perth. What we learned from this was - few companies offer a specialised design service - made to order marketing and presentation products that carry company branding (logos, lettering and monogramming), as well as gift solutions that are relevant, valued and meaningful, reflecting our Australian stories and culture. We met wonderful people - Perth people are very friendly as were the other stand holders who were keen to support each other. The exhibition we were part of was run by the Executive Assistant Network and was very well run. Our take home from this was we need to show people what we do- let them touch and feel and explain our...

David Whyte – Poet, philosopher and leadership speaker

Gill and her friend Bobbi attended a session with David Whyte in Sydney. Impressive poetry- beautifully delivered among stories, personal insights and conversations one needs to think about. “For more than twenty years David has been developing a body of work and a series of seminars focused on the conversational nature of leadership in today’s world. He notes especially that most executives are promoted out of their original core technical competency into the field of key human relationships- relationships that are mostly sustained through holding necessary & courageous conversations. What is the conversation you have or need to keep alive in your business, home or organisation? Why is this important? Reading this is great- hearing it spoken by David Whyte is quite another experience! Good poetry begins with the lightest touch, a breeze arriving from nowhere, a whispered healing arrival, a word in your ear, a settling into things, then, like a hand in the dark, it arrests the whole body, steeling you...
